Main Duties/Responsibilities
The CNC Turner / Machinist is responsible for the programming, set-up and operation of the CNC machinery. They are responsible for communicating any issues affecting the machines with the Production Manager.
Primary Functions:
- Program, set up and operate CNC Lathes/Mills to suit products and efficiencies
- Ensure machines are set up properly, working well, and producing quality products
- Responsible for inspection of the finished product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in production or dispatch
- Machining as per drawings, document packs or instruction
- Check and maintain machine daily to ensure functionality
- CNC programming using Mastercam software
- Housekeeping in and around the CNC machine including putting tools away and removing swarf
- Tooling management
- Machine Maintenance including Lubrication, Check coolant levels, First use checks and Machine warm ups
- Prepare for the job including verifying raw material and verifying job sheets in accordance with the technical drawings
- Verify Measuring Equipment
- Complete daily timesheets
- Other general duties as directed
Skills & Experience
Qualifications:
- Certificate III Mechanical Engineering or relevant experience
- Mastercam course
Experience:
- Programming and operation of Hitachi, Haas, Mori Seki and Okuma VMC, HMC and Lathes and Mills
- Knowledge of Haas and Fanuc Controls and Mazak Mazatrol machines
- Creation of programs using Mastercam CAD software
- Design and development of holding jigs and fixtures
